Fitness ~ Yoga ~ WellBEing
Football, swimming, ballet, gymnastics … There are so many different activities available, so why choose yoga for your child? What makes it so different to other activities and where are the benefits?
Although Yoga is an ancient approach, this is Not traditional yoga in so far that it is not a spiritual experience, but instead mimics Yoga in its breathing, focus and postures used to build strength, flexibility, awareness and much more. The benefits of yoga(fit) are endless and include:
* improved motor skills and physical fitness
* develops awareness of the senses
* fosters emotional growth
* builds social skills
* fosters creativity
* stress and pain relief
* improved circulation and digestion
* better body alignment
* increased concentration
* deeper, more relaxed breathing
* a sense of well-being and inner peace
The advantage of yoga compared to other activities is that the children can develop these important skills in a fun, non-competitive environment. Even at a young age, children often feel pressure at school academically and socially, plus the added pressure of competitive organized sports and many other activities. While a little stress is good as it gives us the drive to perform, too much negative or positive stress is detrimental to body and mind.
A yoga class is about accepting and respecting others as well as oneself. The class is not about perfection, but the aim of yoga is to nurture a child’s inner strength, confidence and self acceptance. The nourishing atmosphere will encourage the child to relax and have fun while developing not only strength, coordination, flexibility and balance, but also body awareness, better focus, concentration, and self confidence without being judged on their performance. We just let them BE in a safe environment to explore their boundaries.

"To acquire balance means to achieve that happy medium between the minimum and the maximum that represents your OPTIMUM.
The minimum is the least you can get by with. The maximum is the most you're capable of.
The OPTIMUM is the amount or degree of anything that is most favorable towards the ends you desire."
