"If you light a path for somebody, it will also brighten your path"
Chinese Proverb
"To acquire balance means to achieve that happy medium between the minimum and the maximum that represents your OPTIMUM.
The minimum is the least you can get by with. The maximum is the most you're capable of.
The OPTIMUM is the amount or degree of anything that is most favorable towards the ends you desire."
~ Nido Quein ~
My classes are suitable for complete beginners and/ or ladies
with little experience in yoga. You don’t have to be fit, skinny,
flexible and/ or young to reap the many benefits.
Improvements can be a result of regular practice at any (st)age.
"It’s much better for a smile to spread over your chin,
than it is to get your chin closer to your shin!"
~ Yogacharya ~
Yoga is not defined by the postures you can get into, but working with your limits and finding YOUR OPTIMUM FLOW. Yoga is supposed to bring you peace and calm, not adding stress physically and/ or mentally to achieve that posture featured on the latest yoga magazine. The focus is on attaining harmony, self-awareness and mindfulness rather than a specific physical goal. It is a journey of self-discovery for your body, mind and spirit. Be in the moment and draw your attention within.
Pause. Observe. Feel. Embrace. Respect.
Let this be a natural process evolving with time rather than a forced one. Find your
OPTIMUM FLOW and remember, in yoga we are not just training to be able to perform better in yoga class. We are training to perform better in life!
My style: YogaFit
is influenced by FreeStyle Fitness Yoga, Hatha, Yoga Flow & Core Strength Vinyasa.
I offer a different apprach to traditional yoga that does not incorporate meditation, chanting, Sanskrit, philosophy, spirituality, extreme postures … AT THIS POINT IN TIME.
This is not a spiritual experience, but instead mimics Yoga in its breathing, focus and postures used to build strength, flexibility, awareness and much more. My focus is on simple breathing exercises, transitions between postures, body work and relaxation accessible for all. It is not strictly yoga, but not a hard-core fitness class either. It is simply a “flowing posture class”, but nobody would know what I am on about so I stick with YogaFit :o).
The foundation of YogaFit are postures and sequences of traditional yoga to create focus, awareness and mindfulness, while developing muscle strength and tone, increasing flexibility and improving core stability. Modifications are given to make it accessible even for complete beginners. YogaFit can be practised as gentle or as strong as you want it to be, but my personal approach is neither strong nor acrobatic.
My classes focus on the physical aspects of postures which are used to strengthen, stretch and tone the body as part of yogic practice adding a sprinkle of fitness elements, but this is NOT a hard-core fitness class.
Sometimes the class will be slower and sometimes more dynamic. Sometimes we practice isolated postures and other times we link postures with the breath to create Vinyasa Style sequences. I am not rigid in my ways, but like to keep it flowing, keeping an open mind.
Relaxation and breath awareness/ techniques will be part of the class, but at this stage
NO eastern philosophy, NO mysticism, NO religious connotation,
NO spirituality, NO chanting, NO ommmmmm ...
NO EXTREME POSTURES
You need:

The designs of the programs assume that you are a healthy individual with no medical or physical conditions that would limit your participation in an exercise program. You should consult with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
Possible benefits with regular practice:
• Increased overall health, energy and vitality
• Greater body awareness
• A stronger and leaner body
• Better posture
• Natural weight loss
• Reduced stress and tension
• Improved concentration
While a small dose of hatha yoga can result in a heightened sense of well-being, a regular regimen will reward you with a body that's lighter and more flexible. Scientific studies confirm many of yoga's benefits. In an article in Medicine, Exercise, Nutrition, and Health Journal, a team of Georgia Tech researchers concluded that a 32 minute yoga routine was a more efficient cardiovascular exercise than the same amount of time spent walking on a treadmill. According to the research team, yoga's cardiovascular value, along with its ability to enhance flexibility, strength, and coordination, qualifies it as an important form of exercise.
